We are David Bellamy Conservation Award Winners!

The David Bellamy Conservation Award is a prestigious accolade given to parks for their conservation efforts. Parks are judged assessed by the scheme’s team of local wildlife experts, who access how well they: Manage their land as a haven for wildlife; reduce their use of energy, water and other resources; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste they produce, and support their local communities.
Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of the award are up for grabs and there are also a number of badges available for achievements in specific areas (of which we won 3!).
Our achievements
We’ve done so much around the park to make these awards possible. For starters, there’s the perfectly-selected location. We’re nicely secluded and the park blends in seamlessly with the surrounding countryside, with many native and bee-friendly plants to add to its natural beauty. We even won the Wildflower Habitat and Honey Bee Friendly badges for this.
For the animals that live alongside us, we’ve put in place a number of helping hands. The owl boxes that we installed earlier this year were noted in our report and we hope to see these making an impact in the very near future. In the river, we also have nesting platforms for the birds. Bug boxes are a new installment to the park, too, and we have planted new hedgerows. Because of this, we also received the Hedge Habitat badge!
This achievement could not have been made possible without the help of everyone who lives at Riverside Park. All our residents continue to make the park a pleasant and beautiful place to live, and we can’t wait to see how the park progresses in the future.
